Frequently Asked Questions

Product Care

How should I store fondant?

Store fondant in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Keep it tightly sealed in its original packaging or an airtight container. Avoid storing it in the fridge, as condensation can make the fondant sticky and difficult to work with. Ideal storage temperature is between 15°C and 25°C.

How long does fondant last?

Our fondant has a shelf life of up to 12 months when stored correctly in a sealed, airtight container in a cool, dry environment. Always check the best-before date printed on the packaging. Once opened, use within 3–6 months for best results.

Can I mix fondant colours?

Yes! You can mix different colours of fondant together to create custom shades. Knead the two colours together thoroughly until you achieve a uniform colour with no streaks. Start with a small amount of the darker colour and gradually add more until you reach your desired shade. You can also use our KOLOR-BURST food-grade gels to tint white fondant to any colour you like.

What is the difference between fondant and gum paste?

Fondant is soft and pliable, making it ideal for covering cakes and creating smooth finishes. Gum paste dries much harder and faster, which makes it perfect for crafting detailed decorations like flowers, figurines, and fine details that need to hold their shape. Both products are food-grade and Halaal certified by SANHA.

How do I use KOLOR-BURST gels?

KOLOR-BURST gels are highly concentrated food-grade colourings. Use a toothpick or skewer to add a tiny amount at a time to your fondant, icing, or batter — a little goes a long way! Knead or mix thoroughly until the colour is evenly distributed. For deeper shades, add more gel gradually. The gels can also be used to paint directly onto dried fondant decorations.
